I am a creative and embodied psychotherapist, offering therapy in both Chinese and English. I also offer group dance movement psychotherapy sessions.
I have studied or experienced various approaches in psychotherapy, including psychoanalysis, CBT, Gestalt therapy, music therapy, dance movement psychotherapy, and art therapy. My personal style integrates elements from these different approaches so as to find the most suitable method for each client. I take person-centered theoretical model, integrating creative arts (such as drawing, movement, play, drama, and music) with a focus on the body. In my practice, I focus on verbal information as well as non-verbal cues. I enjoy combining body movements with creative arts, helping clients to build physical and mental resources in a multi-dimensional way to support their mental health and well-being.
Psychotherapy Outcomes
I have worked with individuals affected by trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses. Over 16 sessions, my clients have experienced significant changes. For example (anonymized examples provided with consent of clients):
– Some clients have made substantial progress in emotional regulation, for example by moving from frequent breakdowns to being able to effectively manage their emotions.
– Some clients, who initially engaged in severe self-harming behaviors, have found safer ways to cope with anxiety by the 16th session, leading to a change in their self-harming patterns.
– Some clients, who initially struggled to say “no” and to set boundaries, have learned to clearly express refusal, establish their boundaries, and protect themselves.
– Some clients have shifted their sleep patterns, for example from waking up in the afternoon to waking up in the early morning.
– Some clients, who started with severe depression and a lack of interest in life, have found new interests in life and undergone significant changes in their overall well-being.
Areas I work with
– Trauma (PTSD, complex trauma, family of origin trauma)
– Anxiety (various stress-related issues and Inner conflict)
– Relationship Issues (attachment relationships, intimate relationships, parent-child relationships, workplace relationships)
– Personal growth (boundary issues, emotional regulation, adjustment and change of behavior patterns)
– Cultural Issues (cross-national relationships, cultural adaptation, etc.)
– Other diagnosed mental illnesses (depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, addiction issues, eating disorders)
